£150,000.00 For The Effects Of An Ankle Injury

Back to Case Studies

We have recently concluded a personal injury claim for a 48 year old Roofer who suffered a broken ankle when he slipped descending a ladder being footed by a colleague.   Our client was near the bottom of the ladder when he fell.  His leg caught in the ladder, resulting in a dislocation and fracture to his ankle.

Our client had an operation and returned to work after 8 weeks.   However, his condition deteriorated with arthritis developing in his ankle as a result of the fracture.   Although he had continued to work following his accident, he was subsequently made redundant due to the economic downturn, rather than his injuries.   Our client was confident that when the economic situation improved he would be able to find another job but it was uncertain and a point of dispute as to how his prospects might be affected by his ongoing symptoms.  Whilst an ankle fusion operation or ankle replacement might alleviate our client’s symptoms, he wanted to put off having another operation for as long as possible.

After extensive negotiations at the Case Management Conference, settlement was agreed in the global sum of £150,000.00.
