Amputation Following Offshore Oil Rig Accident

Back to Case Studies

We acted for and recovered damages of £750,000.00 for a client who was injured in a work accident while working offshore on an oil rig.  Due to negligence on the part of his employers and or the occupiers of the rig our client sustained significant orthopaedic and burn injuries.  As a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident he developed significant PTSD.  As a result of the significant PTSD symptoms he attempted to take his own life.  In doing so he sustained further significant injuries including a leg amputation.  Through the instruction of 12 medical and non-medical experts we were able to pursue a significant claim against the Defendants who finally settled the claim following the institution of court proceedings.
