Compensation for Bus Passenger

Back to Case Studies

Our client was a passenger on a bus which was travelling on a dual carriageway, alongside the third party.  She was sat towards the back of the bus when the third party changed lanes, pulling out in front of the bus, causing a collision.

The third party admitted liability and our client was examined by an expert who confirmed that she had suffered soft tissue injuries to her neck and shoulders as well as an injury to her thumb all of which should recover within 6 months.  The expert recommended a course of physiotherapy to aid her recovery which we arranged quickly, the cost of which was recovered directly from the other side.

As a result of the accident our client was also claiming for her loss of earnings which she incurred attending the medical appointment, her travel expenses, painkiller costs and telephone/postage costs.

Our client opted to disclose her medical evidence without making an offer as she wanted to wait until her treatment was complete before settling her claim, however on receipt of the report the third party made an initial offer of £2,400 for her injuries which our client was keen to accept.  The claim was settled for a total of £2,767.10 which included our client's financial losses.
