Compensation Claim Against Local Council
Our client was injured when a wall mounted kitchen unit fell on her in her own home. On 20 February 2004 whilst she was in the kitchen cooking, without warning, one of the units fell from the wall causing injuries to her forehead, lip and right breast. She also suffered a haematoma of the abdominal wall.
At the time she had been renting the property from the local council and the council had arranged for new kitchen units to be fitted to the property.
The council denied liability seeking to blame the contractors who had fitted the units. Liability was also denied by the contractors.
We arranged for our client to be seen by a consultant and her injuries were detailed in a medical report. After much negotiation the council accepted responsibility and our client received £9,000 compensation for her injuries. She was very pleased with the outcome of the case and the way in which we dealt with her claim.
