Cyclist's Claim
The Claimant was cycling his bicycle to work in a bicycle lane when the Defendant turned right from a side road knocking the Claimant from his bicycle. He was knocked unconscious for fifteen minutes. The paramedics attended the scene and the Claimant was immobilised on a spinal board and taken to hospital.
As a result of the accident the Claimant suffered from head injuries and concussion along with severe bruising to his neck, chest, right hip, left thigh and feet. He also suffered a laceration to his head which required stitching. The Claimant also suffered psychologically as a result of the accident.
Following the accident the Claimant was unable to help his wife with domestic chores and was not able to fully enjoy his sons christening. Since the Claimant has not felt able to ride his bicycle again and has to instead rely on public transport.
The Defendant’s insurers put forward an offer of £3,500.00 which we rejected. We then put forward a counter-offer in the sum of £14,000.00 which was rejected.
Due to the difference between the offers we have now issued proceedings.
