Dental Injury At Work

Back to Case Studies

We acted for a railway worker who was injured when a chain holding a new concrete bearer came loose during a lift, and smashed into his mouth.

The client already had a dental bridge containing 3 teeth, but the bridge supports were cracked by the impact and a new bridge could not be fitted.  Instead the client had to cope with dentures, which he found very inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Liability was denied so we started court proceedings against our client’s former employer.   They continued to deny all liability, but shortly before trial, the case settled for £10,000 damages, plus our full legal costs.

This settlement provided the client with funds to pay several thousand pounds for specialist implant treatment on which a permanent new bridge would be fitted.
