Rear End Collision Causing Exacerbation Of Pre-Existing Condition

Back to Case Studies

The Claimant was driving her vehicle behind a lorry when a third party proceeded on to a slip road in a bid to get on to the M25. The third party decided to do this last minute and in the process collided with the rear of the Claimant’s vehicle.

The Claimant sustained soft tissue injury to her neck and upper back. The injuries exacerbated the Claimant’s pre-existing condition in the form of Scheuermann’s disease (Juvenile Osteochindrosis in the spine). This condition is a self-limiting skeletal disorder and it affects the posture. It occurs most commonly in teenagers and is aggravated by physical activities.

The Claimant had suffered from previous back pain since she was 15 years old and had undergone physiotherapy prior to the accident.

The Claimant suffered constant pain in her neck and back for 3-4 weeks. They suffered intermittent discomfort for 3-4 months and was back to their pre-accident state within 6 months post accident.

We managed to secure the client £1700.00 for a 6 month exacerbation injury.
