What could my claim cost me?

Although Legal Aid is no longer available for most types of personal injury cases, your solicitor will advise you as to the best way to fund your claim, including the option of a 'no win, no fee' agreement.

A 'no win, no fee' agreement means that if you proceeded with a claim but lost the case you would not have to pay your own or your opponent's legal costs. To protect you against having to pay the other sides and your own expenses, you could take out legal insurance. The cost of the insurance policy might be payable at the end of the case or may be paid on your behalf by your solicitor. The premium is usually then recoverable from your opponent. Your solicitor can arrange this type of insurance policy on your behalf if they consider it necessary.
